This client had a challenge that is not unique with older homes — a fireplace that, for whatever reason, was not centered in the room when the house was built. She and her husband wanted a place for their tv and for books, favorite photos and items to display, and of course, a space for their childrens’ toys, games, and puzzles. The fireplace also didn’t have any architectural detail, so the carpenter arranged for beautiful trim at the ceiling, lights within the shelving area, and an old reclaimed beam as a mantel to separate the fireplace from the television. The result is stunning.
