I just finished a mini-makeover, summer style, on a common space that we all share in our basement. This space will be primarily used for playing video games, but will also be used for music practice and impromptu dance parties and puzzle assembly!
I did this one on a very small budget. My main purchase consisted of 30+ FLOR carpet squares, all cut in half and arranged in a random pattern. I scored the tv stand from Craigs List for $70, my friend gave me the fun green nest chair, and our uncle gave us a tv he was no longer using. The wall used to have a giant pin board in its former life, but we removed that and used the chocolate brown color (Clinton Brown by Benjamin Moore) as a backdrop to a smattering of family pictures. We all love the results!
Here’s a few “before” pictures. In this first one, you can see the enormous table we used to keep here, plus a bit of the large pin board.
Then I picked my favorite colors at the FLOR store.
Family pictures are always a crowd pleaser, and one of the best features of a gallery wall is that you can always switch out images as you take more pictures in the future.
