We have a great confluence of home furniture stores all over the DC metro area, but this particular urban neighborhood boasts a nice array of shops. First up, Room & Board, which is full of modern and transitional pieces to fit into almost any room. Lots of occasional pieces with clean lines, and comfortable sofas, chairs, sectionals, etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful, plus this location has many levels to explore, even an outdoor area!
By the time I made it out of Room & Board, the other shops were closed, but no matter! Even their window displays beckoned, and I’ll be back when I’ve got more time. Home Rule is also located on 14th Street, and it’s a small shop, but it packs a punch. They’ve got housewares for your kitchen, mixed in with great accessories and lighting. Worth a look for sure!
Miss Pixie’s Furnishings and WhatNot is a vintage furniture shop loaded with lots of case goods, lighting, and accessories. It’s nicely curated and has been a DC fixture for many years.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for the fun mix of shops in this area. Fortunately, lots of great restaurants too, so you can fortify yourself as you continue your hunt. Happy shopping!
