We are loving this transformation for a lovely couple with younger children. They wanted to keep the functional bookcases and enough open space so the kids could still run through the room, while carving out a cozy conversation nook for grownups to enjoy the space. Still to come? Some art and a few lamps, but the room has come a long way!
We chose an indigo blue fabric for the sofa that plays nicely with a small-scale pattern on the ottoman and a pair of comfortable leather swivel chairs. We removed the covering over the curvy part of the top of the front-facing windows, which allowed natural light to pour into the room. The adjoining room’s french doors were removed (the homeowners realized that they never used them), which improved the overall flow.
Below, you can see a few “before” photos to illustrate the changes we’ve made and the function that’s been added to the room and adjoining entryway.
