We worked with this homeowner to pick finishes that would reflect the new recessed lighting and highlight the new, opened-up design.
The main change comes from opening up the kitchen to the dining area. A coat closet was removed, and a large peninsula was added in its place. A built-in corner bench allows for the round table to take center stage. Actually, what really takes center stage is the gorgeous grouping of sparkly lights cascading from the ceiling! The calm and coastal feeling is further punctuated by the client’s own photograph of the Pacific Ocean.
In the kitchen, the soffit was removed so that the new cabinets could extend to the ceiling. The dishwasher was also moved. The homeowner was able to add a shallow, wall-mounted pantry to the far wall of this small kitchen. Here are some “before” pictures for comparison.
