Our clients asked us to take an unused (and clutter-filled) space and make it functional and inviting for their young teenagers.
We divided the space into zones: one area for crafting, sewing, and other design inspiration and work, and the other for watching tv, playing video games, and dancing!
First things first. As always, the part that got them stuck was the issue of sorting through all the old toys, school papers, stuffed animals, etc that tend to accumulate when you have children!
We also picked a new wall-to-wall carpet for the space. It’s a little darker, provides nice contrast with the white furniture, and a premium underpad, to help make everything very cushy underfoot.
Once that part was complete, we had a pegboard installed for sewing tools etc, and outfitted that area with a few Ikea tables, and the Brimnes wardrobe, also from Ikea. Loads of function in a cozy space.
After that we added a sofa for a TV watching and general hanging around – check out the adorable monogramed pillows from Target!
