Readers of our Instagram know that I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Germany, and took lots and lots of pictures! I stayed in a family home with recently updated bathrooms. It was interesting to see how they design bathrooms in a modern and environmentally-friendly way! You have the option of two options to flush, and the flushing buttons are built right into the wall which hides the tank, and it has the effect of making the bathroom seem larger, because there is nothing sitting on the ground, as we see with most toilets here in the U.S. They even built a little spot for the toilet brush cleaner — see below!
I also like the modern Schluter edge for all the tilework. They carried the floor tile right into the shower for a seamless look, and installed a wall-mounted towel warmer/rack, which is wonderful on cold mornings.
Another bath used the same edging for the tile and the same concept for the toilet, but used a cool stone sink mounted on top of an older vanity base.
Larger scale tile in a small space really does make a difference!
