I always associate oilcloth with summer, because my grandma used it for her table at their summer lake place. My siblings and I grew up eating meals on it, and I have a lot of nostalgia for it.
It seems as though it is popping up more frequently that it used to, which makes sense … it’s incredibly practical, especially for families with small children. It’s basically a vinyl material, but it has some heft to it, so it feels substantial. It’s got a great coating which makes it easy to clean and comes in great patterns. Can be cut to size, which is appealing for those with unusual tabletop shapes/sizes.
You can even use a large piece of it for a picnic blanket, for use at a park or outdoor concert.
